Food Review #4 : Indonesian Cuisine @ Sore Bakso, Sungai Petani

Assalamualaikum wbt and hello everyone.

Nowadays since my son has enrolled in piano lessons on Fridays, we make it a routine to have lunch in Sungai Petani before sending him. Jadinya, kita memang plan nak makan kat setiap kedai yang tak pernah try sebelum ni haha.

So let me introduce you to this shop yang aku rasa baru jugak ni. I present to you:

Sore Bakso

Depan kedai dia memang lawa betul.

Now Im gonna start my simple review. Level picisan cara aku lah. Asalkan blog aku hidup and at the same time aku teruskan this one routine that makes me feel alive, like how I used to.

Parking:
Jujur cakap, agak susah. Maybe sebab kami pergi on a Friday which is part of the weekend in Kedah kan. Location dia pulak tengah pekan. Jadi kita kena berebut la nak cari parking kosong and betul betul nearby. Alhamdulillah kami berjaya a very secure spot, depan kedai sebelah dia ja haha. Bila bawak anak memang aku jadikan parking as a criterion to look at jugak lah. Bukan takda, cumanya nak cari yang betul betul berdekatan memang ikut nasib.

Suasano:
To be honest, masuk kedai ni kita bayar kat suasano dia. Hahaha. Walaupun warna interior dia oren, aku rasa meriah semacam but it has a calm and peaceful environment, jadi boleh bertenang sambil makan. Sejuk, ada aircond semua. Memang la selesa dikkkk.

Ha nampak, convenient.

Jadi dari sudut suasana, memang family friendly dah.

Facility & Cleanliness:
Kerusi dia selesa, besar elok. Tak macam kerusi kat sesetengah kedai hipster, depa buat aesthetic sangat sampai kita nak jatuh kerusi. Sebabnya? Kecil sangat seat tu. Kita ni besao. Also, safe untuk anak anak duduk even tak guna baby chair tu pun. Tempat basuh tangan ada dalammmmm and dekat dengan toilet dia, jadi okay jelah aku rasa. Bersih pun memang bersih. Kita puji!

Food:
Bila tengok menu, nak kata pelbagai sangat tu tak. Maybe sebab kedai ni macam baru lagi? Tapi tak la sikit sangat jugak. Variasi jugak. Cumanya dia bukan Indonesian cuisine yang Minang tu, BUKAN eh. Dia ada lauk ayam masak something, ikan masak something, bakso ada, and a lot more. To me memang menarik untuk dicuba. Dari segi rasa, untuk perut yang mudah dibela macam aku memang rasa sedap. Laki aku pun bersetuju bab ni.

Laki aku memang pantang jumpak teh botol ni.

Bawal masak something. Not bad atas ikan tu ada macam potatoes digoreng.

Ni pilihan aku - ayam masak teliwang?.

Mee Kicap. Anak aku happy la dapat ni.

Price:
Komentari harga ni selalunya datang dari my husband la eh. Dia yang tukang bayar. In his personal opinion untuk 3 meals plus 1 air, di Kedah, and harganya mencecah lebih RM50, dah kira mahal la. Hahah. Aku pulak, faham dan terima ja harga tu. Reasoning paling kuat ialah, bayar ke suasanoooo. Aircond semua ada kan.

Ni resit kami. Nyempat aku snap haha.

Apapun aku suka konsep dia. Aku dah la memang planning nak ke Jakarta next year, jadi kita feeling la sikit makan Indo cuisine kan hehe. Moga terus maju, Sore Bakso.

Okay lah. Semoga aku tidak lupa :)

Sekian dari saya, thanks for reading!

5 Restoran/ Tempat Makan Menarik di Sungai Petani, Kedah

Assalamualaikum wbt and hello everyone!

Since ketika menulis ni aku tak boleh tidur sebenarnya, aku decide untuk menulis. Aku dah plan lama dah. Simpan gambaq pun lama. Upload ja belum hahaha.

So here goes:

5 Restoran/ Tempat Makan Menarik di Sungai Petani

Kenapa terfikir nak review? Orang yang kenai aku tau lah aku memang suka makan, suka ambil gambar makanan. Jadi why not kita share kot kot hampa dah tak ketahuan nak makan apa. Kemudian singgah pulak Sungai Petani (SP), maka boleh la teruskan pembacaan kalau berminat hihi.

1. Nasi Lemak Kukus Bunga Telang

Konsep: Malay food

Harga memang tak ingat. Laki aku bawak pi makan kat kedai ni masa mula mula kahwin (hujung 2018 mungkin) hahaha. Sejujurnya review first ni hampeh sikit sebab aku taktau kedai ni masih beroperasi atau tak. Kedai dia bila siang jadi kedai lauk pauk beraneka tak silap. Bila malam, nasik lemak kukus bunga telang dengan ayam berempah fuhhhhh sedap gila. Aku ingat sedap dia sebab bila tengok gambar terus terbayang rasa dia. Haaaa.

Jemput tengok gambar. Location dia dekat Bakar Arang. Hampa type nama kedai inshaAllah jumpak.

2. Chennai Curry House

Konsep: Mamak/ Indian Cuisine
Serious sedap especially bila ambil set daun pisang aka banana leaf rice set. Kalau sejenis tamak macam aku dan suami, bolehlah tambah lauk pauk, sedangkan set dia pun dah banyak weh! Hahaha. Lepastu bila keluaq dari kedai ha mula la nak rasa sengkak ja. Penuh dah perut.

Harga untuk banana leaf set tak silap aku less than RM10. Unless kita tambah 1 lauk share dengan teman makan kita tu, prolly bertambah la harga. Still reasonable price.

Location sila waze atau maps. Tapi area Lagenda Heights lah yang pasti.

PENTING untuk hampa tahu yang kalau nak makan banana leaf set tu, hanya available sampai pukul 3 pm SAHAJA. (Hat ni i marah guys. I balik kerja jauh tauuuu tak sempat makan sobs).

Tapi, kalau nak makan menu lain boleh ja pi waktu lain. Hehe.

3. iCafe

Konsep: Western

So, berbaloi lah kalau hampa pun nak try makan. Hehe.

4. Cendol Pak Nik

Konsep: Minum petang - Malay food
Very famous amos dah sebenarnya kedai cendol pak nik ni kalau hampa pernah mai SP.

Hagituuu. Harga memang murah. So apa lagi guys, support local dan makan lah di sini.

5. Restoran Didesa

Konsep: Indo-Thai Cuisine
I save the best for the last! Hahaha my favorite restaurant. Sedap dia taktau nak habaq. Macam macam menu yang ada and bersesuaian dengan konsep Indo-Thai dia.

My most favourite menu ialah Nasi Ayam Penyet. Hands down. Sedap sungguh amat sangat. Over pulak kan haha. Tapi before musim MCO kena duduk rumah ja ni, ada satu fasa tu almost hari hari balik kerja aku akan singgah beli. Haha.

Harga berpatutan. Lokasi dia memang senang nak singgah especially kalau hampa macam aku yang akan exit tol SP Selatan haha. Bila dah exit, rapat kiri. Masuk kot KFC tu. Tengok kanan. Belakang Emerald Puteri Hotel ialah Restoran Didesa. Boleh cari dalam maps. Dan boleh jugak cari dalam foodpanda kalau duduk SP. Ada ja. Hehe.

Okay sekian sahaja dari saya. Aku bukan orang SP secara asalnya walaupun aku dilahirkan disini (sobs Im sorry my beloved Penang, the land that I grew #DRAMA).

Suamiku orang Sg Petani dan banyak tempat makan menarik sebenarnya.
Yang aku share hanyalah tempat yang aku tau haha. Apapun, rasa sedap tu semua preference masing masing, subjective. Kalau nak try, boleh la pi tempat yang aku dah suggest.

Thanks for your time.

Book Review #3: East of The Sun by Julia Gregson

Hallu everyone!

My first post of 2015 would be another review. Prolly because it's been awhile since I update my blog and also read a novel!

Im kinda pissed of with myself for not doing em but well, I guess I kinda filled up my days with other social sites so yeap, that would be the excuse.

The book was bought by my friend when she went to the super-sale Big Bad Wolf in Malaysia, somewhere in Shah Alam? Was it? Well I dont care how it was bought. Funny thing about a book is that, we shouldnt judge it from its cover right?

Well I do believe in that quote but with books, I tend to look for simple covers. LIKE plain ones with words only. Idk why. It's just that Im more attracted to them. So, BELIEVE me, if my friend Saff didnt buy it for me (cause she's pretty artistic and she sees book covers differently as how I do), I might not read it and write a review today!

Taken from google. My phone is charging. Cant take the photo of the book rn. But this is exactly the cover of the book.

Now, let's move on to the review :)

Lemme make things clear with the books I read. I love books that bring me to another place. I dont care whether these places are real or fictional for as long as they're somewhere that Ive never been to before.

With East of The Sun, Julia Gregson made me experience the life of people who sail on big ships (like Titanic yknowwww), and she brought me to India!

I love all the characters and to make sure that I won't give you the spoilers, Im only gonna share a lil about the characters :3

Viva Holloway : the main lady. the first few pages made me kinda fear her character. she was a fraud. well, sorta~ but you gotta read to know more. ;3

Rose : oh she's sooooo fragile. seriously naive. but as the story goes on, I really love seeing her character develops.

Victoria : one hell of a girl. kinda laid back but desperate in a way. she developed nicely as much as Rose did too! (did I tell you guys that Rose & Victoria are cousins?)

Glover : oh this boy. I love his character. Really. because at first I like him, and even till the end, I do. I just think that he's such a pitiful young boy :(

This story is about how Viva lied how she knew India so that she got paid to become Rose and Voctoria's chaperone along their trip to India. Rose is getting married to an Englishman who stays in India, while Victoria is her bridesmaid.

In their journey, they learned about each other a lot. They met guys. They were in India. They met new people. They (and I) learned the culture, A LOT.

And you'll have to read it to experience what I went through. It's a good catch. It made me feel like going to India like right NOW!

Always a proud reader :)

Thank you Julia Gregson for a great journey. Glad that I was able to experience them (altho in my mind ;) )

Thanks for reading!

Book Review #1: Being Friends with Boys - Terra Elan McVoy by Farzanaley

Assalamualaikum wbt and hello thereeee :D

It's been a while since I wrote my last post (and I guess this sounds very annoying because Ive been using the exact same sentence to start my post). Well hello, whatever. I guess Im pretty excited to write today. First, obviously because it's been a while. Secondly, hey, Ive got a thing to talk about! Woohooo. Well it's not like I didnt have anything to talk about before but I just did not put the effort to even write one because Im not sure whether my post would be beneficial or just another pose of me rambling things.

So yeah. Let's get things started. I'm a beginner at these things so please tell me if there's some that I do wrong ;3 One more thing, I'm the type of person who would sometimes tell too much till you kinda get the spoiler and you need not read the novel anymore~ BUT, I promise I won't do it by the end of this post. Trust me :D

One more thing, writing a book review has always been an idea that my friends put into my head. It's just that I was lazy.......... so yeah, while now Im making effort, you better read, people! Ahah XD

Book Review #1: Being Friends with Boys - Terra Elan McVoy
Hahaha this is the photo I took and posted it on my Instagram xP
I'm not pretty much sure on how to start (told ya Im new), but surely I would give you the summary written at the back of the book :)

"Charlotte and Oliver have been friends forever. She knows that he, Abe and Trip consider her to be one of the gang, and she likes it that way. She likes being the friend who keeps them all together. Likes offering a girl's perspective on their love lives. Likes being the behind-the-scenes wordsmith who writes all the lyrics for the boys' band. Char has a house full of stepsisters and a past full of backstabbling (female) ex-best friends, so for her, being friends with boys is refreshingly drama-free... until it isn't anymore.
When a new boy enters the scene and makes Char feel like, well, a total girl... and two of her other friends have a falling out that may or may not be related to one of them deciding he possibly wants to be more than friends with Char... being friends with all these boys suddenly becomes a lot more complicated."

And that, my friends, is what written at the back of the book.

Honestly, the moment I finished the book, I would say, hell no the summary is confusing because truthfully, there isn't only one new guy that entered the scene after Trip decided to leave the band they're in, but two of them.

Yes, one of them, is Fabian - the hot new guy in band. He's there, nice and made things real awkward that Char had to control and act cool all the time he was there. We could all tell that he's the new guy that made Char swoon like a girl.

However, the new guy that made one of her guy friends' said wanted to be "more than friends" with Char was Benji. Here comes Benji, another new guy who was always there for her to rescue her failing 20 Cen.(subject). He was not in the band, but he was there with Char.

The start was diff with these two. The way I explained it made it sound like it's just a love story. WAIT, NO. Remember the title? "being friends with boys", How did it all start anyway?

So, let's all move on to Char.

Char is the girl in the story, she's the one who's being friends with all these boys in the story. It's not like she hates girls, she used to have one, Lish. But not sure how things happened when they were suddenly not friends anymore.

And it's not like she had a terrible life either. One might say that she lives in a broken family because her parents are divorced, but honestly, her stepmom, Hannah wasn't all bad either. She isn't a modern Cinderella, she got two terrific stepsisters (Gretchen and Darcy) and they were always there when Jill (her real sister) wasn't there.

I honestly like this novel for its purity. The author, Terra wan't trying to make Char sounded pathetic at all. She does have the inner side of girly things in her, despite her spending most of the time with her boy friends, she does want to put some make up when she went out with Fabian, and dress up prettily (with some limits still since she never really dress up).

So Im not sure how I should end this hahaha.

Im afraid, if I talk more, Im gonna spill everything hahaha. However, lemme give tell you what occured in my head when I was reading through it.

Since she surely will end up with someone too, I put (or would honestly call it as rate) these guys on my list:

1. Fabian (because for God's sake, she dressed up for him!)

2. Benji (she's been hanging out with him, he's nice, funny and she's all comfortable with him and his jokes. He also lends her his notes and they helped her with her study!)

3. Oliver (just because. well yknow, Oliver and her has been friends for like years. they're close! so, I guess, who knows? It might be the one who's always there. It's just Char or even Oliver himself can't see it that they might are meant for each other. They might be more than just friends?)

4. Trip (just the same reason why I would rate Oliver. but I put him last because he left the band. so... I wasnt sure. however, she's all comfortable with him. they exchange opinions/stories; on life rather than study in one notebook that only they read during class. she thought about him a lot is the reason I put him in this rating list.)

And of course, the rating list I made was just my PERSONAL OPINION. I repeat, they're all personal as I read through the story and it didn't end as how I rate it at all. Im all in with Benji because he's nice but well, you've gotta read it man! Hahaha

It's all good. Not that I don't like this kind of genre, it's just that I rarely picked one. So now that I have finally read one, I think it would be good to read a lot more on any kinds of genres.

So I believe, there goes my book review. My first book review, by Terra Elan McAvoy, Being Friends With Boys.

I don't like rating books. They're good on their own. The beauty of a story is subjective. Therefore, have fun reading! :D It's not a heavy story, rather a light and relaxing one. :)
